Matemo Island is just one of the islands that is situated in the 32 island Quirimbas Archipelago. Matemo island stretches 8km long and 3km wide, and is encompassed by crystal clear blue waters. Nestled amongst the palm trees, lies Matemo Island Lodge, a 24 chalet lodge complete with activity centre, restaurant.

Matemo Island Lodge chalets are ensuite with outdoor showers, and include hammocks and deck chairs, fully airconditioned with Queen sized or twin beds. Also chalets are less than 2 metres from the beach.
Of the 24 chalets 2 of these share a verandah, making them convenient for families, and 2 share a linked hallway.
As with Matemo Island Lodge’s sister property, Medjumbe, Matemo Island Lodge has a wealth of water sports ranging from kayaking to scuba diving amongst the reefs surrounding the chain of islands, and also volleyball and beach games for those who prefer to keep their toes in the sand.

Matemo Island Lodge is a 20 minute light aircraft transfer from mainland Pemba.

Having a management couple running the hotel made a big chance in the hospitality of the lodge. Although I would rather send honeymoon couples to Medjumbe instead of Matemo being a small island and be able to give more personalised service.
