    • Inhambane / Tofo region

Flamingo BayInhambane is a tropical area with deserted white beaches and clear tropical waters, virtually undiscovered by tourists.

The town of Inhambane is one of the oldest settlements in southern Africa. In 1534, Portuguese traders established a trading post here and their legacy can be seen in the architecture and layout of the city. Hundreds of graceful dhows on the usually tranquil water is one of Inhambane’s most obvious features.

Apart from the friendly Mozambique people and breathtaking scenery, the region is fast becoming world famous for its spectacular diving. Diving off the coast of Inhambane compares to some of the best in the world. Some of the awesome sightings include Manta Rays, Whale Sharks and migrating Humpback Whales. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are teeming with life and the reefs are pristine. This is also one of the last refuges for the endangered Dugong.

Bordering Kruger National Park and bounded by both the Limpopo and Olifants Rivers, with the mighty Shingwedzi flowing through its heart, Parque Nacional do Limpopo is populated with a wide range of wildlife and boasts breathtaking scenery. This awe-inspiring adventure is more accessible than ever before. Access to the Park from Moçambique is via Massingir dam in the south or Mapai in the east.

Mozambique’s three national parks include the Gorongosa National Park, the Maputo Elephant Park and the Marromeu National Park. The flagship is Gorongosa National Park, in central Mozambique, which is currently being rehabilitated in a large scale project spearheaded by the Carr Foundation, a US non profit organization, and the Mozambique Government.

Together they are working to not only protect and restore ecosystem of the Park, but also to develop an ecotourism industry that will benefit the local communities. The reintroduction of large numbers of bulk grazers has been in operation since 2006 to complement and grow the existing population of wildlife, including lions and other carnivores, that already roam the great expanse of the Gorongosa National Park.
