The remote Nkwichi Lodge is situated on one of the most scenic areas of Lake Niassa, which is the 9th largetst lake in the world at 560 km long and 80 km wide. The Lodge has been designed to ensure comfort and privacy for its guests, hosting a maximum of 14 people at full capacity. The chalets have been tucked away in the tree line, keeping the lakeshore scenery unspoilt. The six chalets offer their own unique design and atmosphere, each featuring its own en suite bathroom which has been designed so that you can bathe outside under the tree canopy in complete privacy.
The crystal clear water of Lake Niassa offers a wealth of water based activities for guests to enjoy, from swimming to snorkelling and sailing. Safaris can also be arranged in the surrounding Manda Wilderness Reserve which is home to a variety of antelope species, elephants, leopards and numerous birds. The Lodge boasts 8 secluded beaches on a 4 km stretch of Rift Valley coastline - a true off the beaten track destination for travellers who wish to escape the rat race.
What is special?
Nkwichi's Star Bed is a unique experience in Mozambique and perfect for all romantics! The bed is either set up on a private, picturesque beach surrounded by majestical baobab trees or a private rock island close to shore. A breathtaking way to savour the African night-sky!
From Mozambique, Nkwichi Lodge can be accessed by flying to Lichinga (from either Maputo or Nampula) and then travelling onward by road to Cobue - approximate duration 3.5 hours. From Cobue a boat transfer is done to the lodge.
From Malawi, take a charter flight from Lilongwe to Likoma Island. From Likoma Island a boat transfer is done across to Cobue to clear customs for Mozambique and then its onward to the lodge.
