Kaya Mawa

Photo of Kaya Mawa from the air Kaya Mawa is situated on the island of Likoma, approximately 12 km from the Mozambique side of Lake Niassa (also known as Lake Malawi). This island is also home to the historical St Peter’s Cathedral in Mbamba town, which is over a 100 years old and reportedly even bigger than the Winchester Cathedral. Kaya Mawa was opened in 2000, after being built completely by hand in one of the remotest and most isolated parts of the country and has since become an iconic Malawian destination.

The lodge features a total of 12 accommodation options, made up of standard and premium rooms and houses and family houses. Each room or house has been named after one of the local villages and have panoramic views of the lake and feature private terraces on which to relax. All accommodation is comfortably furnished to ensure a luxurious and relaxed stay.
